107 K23 – Male ACDx – Kurri Kurri, NSW

Observation Notes: A real happy-go-lucky boy, who was rather excitable, friendly, & was very happy. He just wanted to get out of his kennel & play with me. He seems to have a really nice friendly nature about him. And he always had his tongue hanging out! This lovely boy is safe with HAR!

78 K30 – Female BCx – Kurri Kurri Pound, NSW

DOG_DETAILS:  This poor girl is a special case. Having recently having a litter in the bush, rangers caught her about a week ago. She was extremely timid & scared. With some TLC from staff, however, she has made a huge turn around & is now friendly albeit a little wary around men. Alas she has a flea problem, has fly bite, & is being treated for worms. Rangers are still trying to find her pups. Please excuse the photos as she was a touch wary of me not to mention the huge camera in front of my face. Safe with Dog Rescue Newcastle. Contact them if you would like to adopt her.

91 K2 – ACD – Kurri Kurri Pound, NSW

By admin Posted in Gone Home :), New South Wales (NSW) /

I’d dare say this boy displays classic cattledog temperment. He kept his distance the whole time I viewed him being wary of the stranger. I think he was studying me moreso than me him. Still he displayed no aggression whatsoever. Rather he came across as friendly. Being the owner of ACDs, I dare say he’s just waiting for the right owner to come along whereupon he’ll make for one fantastic & very loyal companion. Gone home to his family. 20/02/2010

90 K20 – Kelpiex – Kurri Kurri Pound, NSW

By admin Posted in Gone Home :), New South Wales (NSW) /

Listed as ACD by the pound, but he seems crossed with kelpie to me. Whatever the true breed(s), he is a friendly & happy boy who also came across as being well behaved. He did have the occasional bark, but did so in a friendly, playful fashion. Microchipping, registering, & desexing are included in adoption fees. Vaccination costs extra. Please contact Kurri pound for prices & further details. Gone home to his family 20/02/2010

A very friendly girl who came across as well behaved. She was, though, putting on a brave face as she was crying all the time I viewed her. Poor girl.  Gone home to her family 20/02/2010

Soul – male ACD, 6-8 yrs Hawkesbury Pound NSW

Soul

Soul only arrived at the pound yesterday & is doing very well in the environment overall. As you can see Soul has been long suffering long term from a nasty skin condition. This affects his backend, underbelly, chest and the base of his ears.

Soul walked well on lead & knows sit. Soul was happy to be handled. Soul was understandably a little distracted in the pound environment, yet really enjoyed the peace & freeom of the run. Soul refused to go to the toilet in his pen, and was relieved to have an opportunity to go in the run. A lovely boy. Vic & Nic Safe with ACDR. Read the rest of this entry »

7 mth old Female ACD – Kurri Kurri NSW – Safe with Rescue

Temperament: A bit of a barker, this girl, but nevertheless a very friendly & happy girl. Loved getting attention & seems to have a nice nature. She was very curious as to what was happening everywhere around her. She is slightly smaller than what’s average for the breed, but she may still have some more growth coming given her age.  Safe with Dog Rescue Newcastle.

Petition to improve conditions at Kurri Kurri Pound in NSW

By admin Posted in General, New South Wales (NSW) /

Conditions are atrocious at this country pound, with vandalism, theft of dogs, and attacks against staff members and this is not all. They limit access to the general public for adopting or claiming lost dogs to a mere 4 hours per week and these 4 hours are 9am – 10am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. This is not an equitable system for allowing people to be reunited with their lost dogs. Please sign the petition below to force council into action and to improve conditions for both the staff and the dogs in their care.

Please share this link with everyone who shares our love of dogs.

Amber, 6 yr old Female ACDx, Robina, Qld

By admin Posted in Adopted, Queensland (QLD) /

This young lady’s owner passed away and she was hit by a car. Luckily her leg was saved but she is in need of a home urgently or else she will be surrendered to the shelter in Brisbane. She is dog aggressive but otherwise very sweet and affectionate. This lucky girl has gone to live with a single lady and her daughter.
