Mitch – Male Red ACD – 4-5yo, Brisbane, QLD

Mitch is the most AMAZING boy if you just love a dog that will cuddle up to you and you have time to give him all the hugs and kisses he deserves. He’s such a big sook plus he sits EVERY time on command and shakes paws, stays and drops. What more could you ask for in a loyal, loving tail-wagging companion?

Mitch was rescued by AWDRI on Friday June 4th and has been adopted. Read the rest of this entry »

Boots – 331 K6 – Male Border Collie X – Kurri Kurri Pound, NSW

Observation Notes: Boots is back in the house! Yes this is the second time I’ve had the pleasure of meeting boots as he was an inmate of the pound some 6 months ago. Nonetheless Boots is a very friendly & happy boy who always seems to be up for a game. I’d dare say good fences are a must, though, for this boy. Safe with Dog Rescue Newcastle. “Red Dog” – 7 yo Male ACD – Kurri Kurri Pound, NSW

By admin Posted in New South Wales (NSW), PTS :( /

Devastatingly Red Dog and his mate were put to sleep without any warning by the pound.

Observation Notes: Red Dog (yes that’s his name!) is a surrender along with Gus (Impound #: 337 K9) below. His owner was extremely reluctant to surrender both his dogs & was pretty much in tears when he did so. Alas the owner has fallen on hard times, has had to sell his house, move into a flat, thereby having no chance in keeping his boys. Red is very much a happy friendly boy, in the typical happy-go-lucky cattledog fashion, although he is a tad stand-offish & likes a bark or two. Like Gus, even though Red is 7 years old, he doesn’t seem to show it. I hope he gets a home with plenty of TLC as I’m certain he’d reward such a home with plenty of loyalty. Considering both boys have been raised from pups together, it’d be great if both were rehomed together. Read the rest of this entry »

Boston – Red Cattle Male – 4yo – Hawkesbury Pound, NSW

By admin Posted in Adopted, AWDRI Dogs, New South Wales (NSW) /

Boston has been adopted.

Notes from Boston’s foster carer.

“Boston” is a treat and is almost invisible. I have had three working dogs in my life and he is up there with the best.
Very quite gentle nature, no dominence issues, works well on lead and learns quickly. We don’t know his real name nor does he I think so recalling him is a bit tricky. But once you you have his attention does what he is told. Loves tennis ball and hose.

03392 Male blue roan, black 4/6yrs cattle dog cross – Blacktown Pound, NSW

Beautiful looking speckled adult cattle dog cross. Safe with another rescue group.

Note from volunteer – a small little dog and very scared. After gaining his confidence, he came closer and closer, he soon showed me how clever he was. He certainly smelt the treats I had. He can sit, shake hands and lay down. Loves to feel the comfort of having you around. Likes to sit right, right next to you with his legs resting on you. I haven’t taken him in the yard as yet.

ETA – he had a play in the yard today. His favourite part of the day was laying back in the sun having his tummy rubbed. He had a sniff of the dog in the next kennel, he showed no signs of aggression.

Note from another volunteer – This boy has intimidating eyes – but don’t let them fool you. He is a honey. He came for a pat and was wagging vigorously. A genuine sweetheart, waiting for a chance. Read the rest of this entry »
