Tyson – Male – Kelpie – Hamilton, Vic

By AWDRI_1 Posted in Adopted, AWDRI Dogs, Victoria (VIC) /

Tyson heading off to his new life as a working dog.

Update 23/01/2011 – Tyson has been adopted by a family who are going to be working him on their sheep but he is also a very beloved new member of their family. They just adore him. Good luck in your new life Tyson. You deserve it!

Tyson would suit someone that wants to get out there and run or exercise daily he is a lovely tempered dog with people very bouncy and fun but still a real lover boy, loves to be touched and cuddled. He is extremely agile, he stands on two back feet effortlessly to peak over my side fence at the other dogs….looks like a meercat!! He would be great for any person wanting to do agility, film work, tricks or of course being on a farm and doing what he is naturally bred to do. He was a bit jumpy for my daughter (9) at first but he has settled down nicely now, probably not good for young kids or toddlers, he might still knock them over. I wouldn’t place him in a family with cats, his focus is too intense with them..I don’t think he would harm them but his interest at this stage would lead him to chase and harrass. He is a little shy with his food which I have been working on with him…he is extremely focused while training but needs to learn some skills when greeting or being around other dogs when out. He is fine with all of my dogs and loves to run and play with the pack, he engages with me as soon as I go outside too so he enjoys the company of people and other dogs. He will be a fabulous dog with a little training.

03747 – Female, Senior, Kelpie x – Blacktown Pound NSW

This girl loves to play ball, she will drop it at your feet then back peddle, not taking her eyes off the ball – waiting for you to throw it, she is still young at heart.

Note from volunteer: Poor 3747 “Scat” waits for the kids to see her, but they don’t. frown.gif
She was my fav last week and again this week along with the rest
She is such a sweet old girl, I would never pick her to be 12. (if she is indeed 12)
This week she was sharing with a female staffy no issues, they were best of mates. I love this girl. I noted when a family was close by with kids her eyes lit up and she waited and waited for them to come by. They didn’t. I managed to get a pic of her as she waited.

03641 – Male – 6/12Month Old Kelpie x Rhodesian Ridgeback – Blacktown Pound NSW

By AWDRI_1 Posted in Gone from Website, New South Wales (NSW) /

Note from volunteer – this boy is lovely. I met him today. He was truly lovely. His little tail wags 100 miles an hour, didnt seem jumpy or hypo. Was happy to get a visitor, no hesitation in coming up and saying hello. Well worth a save. He was actually one of my faves. Bumping him and hoping he gets a last minute reprieve.

Note from volunteer – he was eager to make the aquaintance of 3752, tail wagging and with attempts at play thought the bars, but #3752 was not interested and pulled back.

03626 – Male – Senior – Kelpie cross short BCC

By AWDRI_1 Posted in New South Wales (NSW), PTS :( /

Note from volunteer – put in yard – older dog, gentle. Sadly this older gent was put to sleep for lack of adoption or rescue options.

Note from volunteer – this little dog thoroughly enjoyed a run around today out in the large yard. He loves to chase balls. He enjoys the the company of people. Very calm and walked well on a lead. Showed no aggression towards other dogs. He has been waiting so patiently, for many days, for someone to take him for a walk. Read the rest of this entry »

03577 Male – Junior kelpie cross short BCC – Blacktown Pound

Note from volunteer – this little boy was so excited to have some company. He seems very very lonely. Wagged his tail at all the dogs we passed. He was in a kennel for a couple of weeks with a bull arab that came into the pound on the same day. This Bull arab x has since gone. I think he is really feeling the loss. When we went out into the big yard, instead of taking off and running around and using up some energy, the only thing he wanted was to be held and cuddled. It was heartbreaking. Cuddle, we did, he rested his head on my shoulder and tucked his legs into me, and that’s how we stayed. If only someone had a camera to take a photo. After the cuddles he was happy to play with the ball and show me the bundle of energy I thought that he was hiding. He is very loving and very receptive to learning how to sit with treats. He does get caught under your feet when you are walking with him. I honestly don’t know why this dog has been in the pound for so long and not found a new home. I would take him home myself if I could.

Patches – Male – 2-4 years, Cattle Dog x Pointer ? – Brisbane Qld

By AWDRI_1 Posted in Adopted, AWDRI Dogs, Queensland (QLD) /

Patches is a playful boy, always up for a game and cheeky with it. Lovable and friendly he gets on with everyone. Intelligent, active and loyal, he will alert you to someone’s arrival but shows no aggression whatsoever. He’d be fine with children of all ages although he is rather rambunctious so would need to be monitored with small ones.

Patches hasn’t had much in the way of training but with a dedicated owner it won’t take long to teach him the ropes.

Patches just adores playing with other dogs so would thrive in a household with doggy companions.

Patches is in foster care in Wynnum in Brisbane.

Please complete our Apply to Adopt form if you would like to meet him.
