No.254 female Kelpie x ACD – approx 9 months old – DUE 28 Dec – Queanbeyan pound, ACT – Safe with other rescue

Pound notes: I met this little miss last Saturday but didn’t have time to test her. She seemed lovely but waiting for some info from the ranger. Her photo isn’t on the Queanbeyan pound website so can’t copy. Will get more info on Friday.
Notes from ranger: Was very timid but now very happy and active. She gets along well with other dogs and has been in the outside yard with Bundy a cattledog/staffy x
UPDATE: I handled this girl today (24TH) and she’s a very sweet dog who was happy for me to handle her all over. She loved the attention so much so that she wouldn’t stay still for a photo. A wriggly and friendly little worm smile.gif

Update 30/12 – This little girl is now safe with another rescue. Read the rest of this entry »

No.255 ‘Bundy’ male cattledog/staffy x approx 3 years old – DUE 31st – Queanbeyan Pound, ACT

Bundy was extremely shy and frightened when he arrived at the pound three weeks ago. Apparently his owner was kicking him (witnessed by a neighbour) and Bundy ran off. He ended up at the pound very frightened. After gentle handling by the rangers he’s blossomed and although still a tad unsure desperately wants to be loved. I went into his outside yard and he greeted me with a two-steps forward one-step back approach but then lay next to me while I patted and rubbed him all over. He was easy to guide into a sit and seemed to love the attention. I didn’t test him with other dogs but he’s been in the outside yards with the tan kelpie x 247 and a couple of the others. Rangers say he’s good with other dogs. Bundy is a very likeable and sweet boy.

Update:  Sadly, despite intense efforts of a number of rescue groups – we were too late.  Bundy has gone to rainbow bridge.  RIP beautiful boy.  Noone can hurt you anymore :( Read the rest of this entry »

MEEKO – Female ACD Approx 5 months – Coastal Paws Rescue, NSW

Meeko is by far the smartest ACD we have ever had in foster care, and  is smarter than most humans!!!!.  She is DEAF,  however,  her deafness is certainly not a disability.  She is the typical “Velcro” cattle dog and that she stays on “heel” and in tune with the person she is with at all times.  Meeko is very pretty and her photos do not do her justice.  She would suit someone with an active lifestyle who could take her on a daily walk and interact with her.  Meeko is very good both off and on a lead when going for walks,  and responds to basic hand commands.  Meeko would be best with another male dog, although she does get along well with other dogs and currently has 5 dogs in her foster pack.  She likes nothing more than a nice walk and then curl up at your feet afterwards.   The fact that Meeko is DEAF,  is the last thing you would need to consider as she is so many wonderful things besides this.
