Ginger Rogers – 12 month old female red ACD – Brisbane, Qld *Adopted*

By admin Posted in Adopted, AWDRI Dogs, Queensland (QLD) /

Ginger is a beautifully soft natured cattle dog, friendly and sociable with dogs and people. Affectionate and easily trained she will make a wonderful pet. She is still learning the basics and has almost mastered coming when called (her name is new to her, having been a stray in the pound). She is gentle, alert and full of energy albeit a bit nervous when she thinks she is in trouble.

She does not get on with cats so will need to go to a home without felines or where they can be kept separate. Ginger does suffer some anxiety when confronted with new situations but settles soon.

Her adoption fee of $300 covers her desexing, microchipping, C5 vaccination, heartworm test and commencement on monthly preventative.

Temperament test from when she was in the pound:

In the cage – She was shy and friendly. Handler crouched down and she then came forward to her.
In the stand and ignore – She jumped up on handler and was seeking comfort from her.
With withdrawal of affection – She again accepted the pats and jumped up gently on the handler and almost grabbed her hands. She needs that closeness for her confidence.
Was happy to be handled; she was soft and desperate for love.
Health – We thought she may be coming in to season or going out of season.
In the guide and place – Easy into both the sit and the drop
In the stranger danger – She startled a little and then she recovered and had a cuddle with the stranger.
No signs of fence jumping
In the kid test – She was very fearful and ran away from the doll.
With dog to dog – She was happy to meet Yard 29 but she was a little worried and unsure. However when she met Yard 27 she heckled up all down her back and growled and carried on. So careful introductions.
With food bowl guarding – She backed off from the bowl the minute she saw the hand.
With correction on the chain she didn’t really understand the lead but she did well.
This dog is motivated by treats and she knows sit again more about the way the handler was holding the treat as oppose to actually knowing it.
Would suit an experienced home.

She is such a soft girl that strongly needs a home that will further her training and work on her confidence building etc. She has a beautiful soft coat and loved her people. She almost intuitively knew what was expected of her before you asked, she was very connected.
