Rusta – 3 year old blue & red male ACD – Brisbane, Qld *Private Rehoming*

Update 2/12: Rusta has found a new family.

Rusta is being rehomed due to boredom and going wandering so he will need a family who can spend time with him or another doggy companion to keep him occupied.

Rusta is very affectionate to us and loves to sit up on a chair next to you for cuddles. He is happy and alert with a lovely nature. He will listen to commands and is obedient.  He does not like motorbikes or anything like mowers with that loud engine sound. He will be friendly with other dogs while in the same yard, but on the opposite side of the fence, he will be territorial. He does not like cats and will bark and chase them, the same with possums. He loves to go in the car cause he can sense an adventure coming his way and is lots of fun to take to the bush, beach or where ever you go. He plays fetch very well, he will bring it to your feet, if the ball does not land at your feet, ask to bring it closer and he will do that. One of his favorite games is Frisbee. He does not chew furniture and will sleep only on his bed, we have asked him to sleep with us on our bed but he will always leave and go straight back to his bed.  He will always listen to your command with food and does not snatch from your hand. He is an excellent guard dog and backs down when commanded.

Please complete our adoption questionnaire if you would like Rusta to become a part of your family.

05997 – Old male kelpie x, Blacktown Pound NSW

By VicPounds Posted in Gone from Website, New South Wales (NSW) /

URGENT – on PTS list 31/10/11

Note from volunteer – This little boy had a chance to run around outside in the large yard. He thoroughly enjoyed himself. He has a lot of energy to burn. He is very loving. He needs to have a secure yard as he will take advantage of any hole he finds.

Note from volunteer – What a cutie! He was so excited to have someone come and say hello, he was jumping up and done on his back legs. He likes nothing better than to run around and play. Unfortunately due to the weather, the running had to wait for another day. We still had room to play though. He loved to have me play dodgems with him, and then give him a good rub. He rolled over so I could rub his tummy as well. He sits on command and takes the treats from your hand, very gently

05935 – Male ACD 2yrs?, Blacktown Pound NSW

By VicPounds Posted in Gone from Website, New South Wales (NSW) /

URGENT – on PTS list for 31/10/11

Red – male 2 year old red ACD – Hoppers Crossing, Vic (Private Rehoming)

Red has recently moved to suburbia and his family are finding that they cannot meet his needs for exercise and mental stimulation. He is a heeler by breed and nature and is a bit mouthy but he is still young and will grow out of this with consistent training and a firm owner. Red is a lovable boy but would do best in a family without young children due to his mouthing habit.

More temperament information to come.

Please complete our adoption questionnaire if you would like to give Red a new home.

By VicPounds Posted in Adopted, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) /

URGENT – must have save by 5pm 1/11 Adopted from pound

This very handsome and loveable dog has missed out on learning and the what it’s like in the outside world. He loves people so has been loved but nothing seems to have been done training and socialising wise and with other dogs. He’s an intelligent boy very keen to learn. He constantly looked at handler for guidance and reassurance. A beautiful boy who will need lots of help.

Molly – 9 week old BC x ACD pup – Lithgow, NSW

By admin Posted in Adopted, AWDRI Dogs, New South Wales (NSW) /

Molly is a 9wk old BC x cattle dog that came into the care of AWDRI at 5wks of age. She is a typical working type puppy, she loves to play and loves to be with you. She is currently sleeping in a crate overnight and doing well with her crate training. She had learnt basic commands and is proving to be very intelligent. Molly is a very special little girl and would ideally suit someone who can put effort into training her and keeping her mind active.

Please complete an adoption questionnaire if you would like to adopt Molly. Her adoption fee of $350 covers all her puppy shots, microchipping, worming and desexing at the appropriate age as part of a clause in her adoption contract.

113 – ‘Stacey’ 8yo kelpie x rottweiler, Renbury Farm NSW

URGENT – must have save by 4pm 31/10/11 Safe with red Collar rescue

voluntary notes – Dear Stacey, has anyone told you that you’re meant to be 8 years old and it’s time to stop bouncing around like a spring chicken? (Just a joke love, don’t ever stop!).
Stacey makes you laugh from the get-go. It’s her adventure and you’re just along for the ride. Walking with more than a spring in her step out of the kennel block the first thing she did when she reached the grass area was roll onto her back and proceeded to squiggle and squirm her way to bliss. Such a happy girl we had a hard time keeping her still to take photos she just wanted to explore the Farm, and your arms for huggles. So I asked her carer to take her a bit up the grass area and then walk slowly back to me to see if I could get a shot – Carrisa’s reply was “Slow? Are you joking?”. But we got the shot…well, a shot. Because it really does not do justice to how gorgeous this lady is. She does have some flea dermatitis on her rump – so she’s another one of late who gets the free gift of a purple rump upon checkin at RF. Her care in this area would need to continue, but I bet it won’t take long to have her looking her spiffy best.
With all the above said she is actually very easy to walk on lead, just don’t mistake her for a senior citizen. She’ll soon put you right!

Alfie – Young male kelpie x, Melbourne, Vic

By VicPounds Posted in Adopted, AWDRI Dogs, Victoria (VIC) /

Update 1/11: Alfie is out of the pound and will be transported to Victoria after his vetting into foster care and will be available to adopt shortly.

Video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIzMh9RopAY

VOLUNTEER NOTES 28/10:
Baby boy is so quiet, introverted and lacks confidence (to the point he peed herself slightly). For the first half hour of having him out of the kennel he would look everywhere but you, keen to know what was going on around the farm…wanting to approach you for cuddles but not quite having the required confidence. Slowly but surely I wore him down…..well the beef jerky helped matters (yet his not really treat motivated!).After that it was “I want you lap. Give me your lap. Do not move. Yes that’s it, cuddle me. No, cuddle me some more! Don’t avert your face I want to give you kisses. And more kisses. Now back to snuggling, please.” As his confidence and trust in me grew he became such a smiley boy and started revealing more of his happy disposition. he adores rolling on his back for tummy rubs…and getting too close to the camera to take pics.
Even though his not a traditionally-sized lap dog, his not so big he can’t curl his body to fit in there comfortably. His comfort, anyways :)

He needs the opportunity to shine – will you give it to him? You’ll be glad you did!

Suzi – 9yo ACD female, Sydney, NSW

Despite being an older girl Suzi is a real character and full of energy, acting like a puppy when she gets excited (especially when you get out her lead). She will happily curl up somewhere cozy and take a nap though when things are quiet.

She is easy going and gets along well with both male and female dogs of all sizes. She is patient and calm with kids and has adapted well to living with our cats and kittens, curling up with them on her bed for a nap every now and then- Very Cute!

She sits on command and will even shake hands! We are working on sit and stay which she is picking up well- proof that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! ;)

Suzi is looking for someone to give her plenty of TLC and lots of love.

Suzi is available for adoption if you would care to complete our adoption questionnaire.
