Charlie – 12 months old – male Kelpie x Lab – Romsey, Vic *Adopted**

Charlie is a real character with some basic training; he knows how to sit, drop and come. He enjoys nothing more than ball play or anything else you throw for him. A very energetic pup who only wants to please but is not sure how to do it. He is starting to grasp a good recall to his name and can be off leash with his foster mum but as with any new introduction this would not be advised straightaway when he joins a new family.

Overall Charlie is a lovely pup but does need a home with some one used to dogs and either a home to himself or with another pup for company.

Please complete our adoption questionnaire if you are interested in meeting Charlie.

Milo – male 3 years old – Shar Pei x Kelpie – Sydney, NSW

Milo is a gentle boy who currently lives with two dogs, a cat and chooks. His foster carers have had no problems with this. After some initial tension over food all three of them play really well together. He is an inside/outside dog, but was previously always an outside dog so it took some work from his carers for him to realise that he was allowed inside to sleep at night.

He does cower and shake when voices are raised. The raised voice wasn’t aimed at Milo but it scared the living daylights out of him. He is very much a man’s dog. He idolises our carer’s hubby but can take me or leave her. We believe this is probably because he has lived with a man with little exposure to women previously. His carers have no problems with him around their baby, he is not particularly interested in her. Having said that as with any dog he is not left unsupervised around her.

We are told that his mum was a pure kelpie and his dad was a pure Shar Pei. He has the Shar Pei shaped head with the fine Kelpie body. He is well fed but is still very fine and thin. He is a fussy eater and often needs to be encouraged to try new foods, he is not gutsy at all. He loves his chicken and chicken necks. He walks well on a lead once he is on it but gets so excited just when he knows he’s going for a walk he will try and pull out of his harness as soon as the front door is open.

He has only been in the car a couple of times and is not used to it at all.

He loves to chase a ball, it is one of his favourite things to do. But he is not very good at giving the ball back so it can be thrown again.

Milo can be a little aloof and really needs his new owner to be his best mate. His previous owner had him with him everwhere and they were really never apart. He is now by our carer’s hubby’s side all the time. If Hubby goes outside then so does Milo, he just adores him and sticks to him like velcro.

If Milo appeals to you as a gentle and loyal companion please complete our adoption questionnaire and we can arrange for you to meet him.

Willow – female blue 18 months ACD – Maryborough, Qld

By admin Posted in Private Rehomings, Queensland (QLD), Urgent /

Willow loves water!, is great with older children, with younger children she tends to jump up to them unless there is an older child or adult with her. Loves belly rubs. Needs attention and a large yard. We took her to “natural balance” dog training and the trainer says she would make a fantastic working dog. Very cute!

Willow is a private rehoming due to her need for space and exercise that has become limited due to moving from a rural setting into suburbia.

Please contact us if you can either foster or adopt Willow.

Boo – 1yo male kelpie x, Gladstone Qld *adopted*

By VicPounds Posted in Adopted, FNQ, Private Rehomings, Queensland (QLD) /

Boo is a gorgeous boy looking for a new home. His current owner has known him since he was a puppy and rescued him from the pound after his previous owner dumped him there. Travel commitments mean that she is unable to keep Boo much longer.

He is an incredibly intelligent boy who comes and sits at 6pm to wait for his tea. He has great manners and will talk to you before he is feed. He loves people he is familiar with but is a great guard if there is any movement that isn’t normal. He loves other dogs if they are not too dominant and loves being around people. He doesn’t like cats but currently lives happily with a cockatiel. He loves the car and his toys and is a very fast learner.

If you can provide Boo with his new home please fill in the adoption form on our websitehttp://www.workingdogrescue.com.au/application-forms/apply-to-adopt-from-awdri/

Butter wouldn’t melt in Diesel’s mouth would it? He’s up for private rehoming in Cairns and would really like a home preferably with a submissive doggy friend and somewhere where there’s not too much pedestrian traffic going by as he doesn’t like strangers. Energetic and so very cute, he warms to you quickly and with an experienced doggy owner will be a fantastic mate.

He loves going in the car and for walks but does tend to pull a bit and isn’t overly fond of strange dogs so needs a firm hand in leading him.

Diesel is in Cairns and is available for adoption.

‘Crewie’ – 2yo male red ACDx, Buderim Qld *Private Rehoming*

Crewie is described as a people dog. He loves attention and spending time with everyone, getting pats, playing catch, chasing birds around the back yard, long walks – especially on the beach. He loves to be by your side at any time of the day or night! He has been an outside dog but he does get scared of big storms and loud trucks so he will often try to hide somewhere. He loves children and will let them cuddle him like a big teddy bear but he is not good with other dogs or pets.  He prefers to ride inside cars and not on trays, and can get sick on really windy roads. He can be an escape artist if a property is not properly fenced. Crewie is a very smart and loving dog who is extremely energetic.

He is reluctantly being rehomed as he requires vet treatment on an injured ACL that his current owners are unable to afford.

Can you help this boy by adopting him? http://www.workingdogrescue.com.au/application-forms/apply-to-adopt-from-awdri/

Rusta – 3 year old blue & red male ACD – Brisbane, Qld *Private Rehoming*

Update 2/12: Rusta has found a new family.

Rusta is being rehomed due to boredom and going wandering so he will need a family who can spend time with him or another doggy companion to keep him occupied.

Rusta is very affectionate to us and loves to sit up on a chair next to you for cuddles. He is happy and alert with a lovely nature. He will listen to commands and is obedient.  He does not like motorbikes or anything like mowers with that loud engine sound. He will be friendly with other dogs while in the same yard, but on the opposite side of the fence, he will be territorial. He does not like cats and will bark and chase them, the same with possums. He loves to go in the car cause he can sense an adventure coming his way and is lots of fun to take to the bush, beach or where ever you go. He plays fetch very well, he will bring it to your feet, if the ball does not land at your feet, ask to bring it closer and he will do that. One of his favorite games is Frisbee. He does not chew furniture and will sleep only on his bed, we have asked him to sleep with us on our bed but he will always leave and go straight back to his bed.  He will always listen to your command with food and does not snatch from your hand. He is an excellent guard dog and backs down when commanded.

Please complete our adoption questionnaire if you would like Rusta to become a part of your family.

Red – male 2 year old red ACD – Hoppers Crossing, Vic (Private Rehoming)

Red has recently moved to suburbia and his family are finding that they cannot meet his needs for exercise and mental stimulation. He is a heeler by breed and nature and is a bit mouthy but he is still young and will grow out of this with consistent training and a firm owner. Red is a lovable boy but would do best in a family without young children due to his mouthing habit.

More temperament information to come.

Please complete our adoption questionnaire if you would like to give Red a new home.
