2 males – Border Collie x Kelpie – 10 months old – Mornington Pound, Vic

These two little brothers are a hoot. They’ve been nicknamed Bill & Ben and are about 10 months old.

They live together during the day & we just separate them at night for their feeds. Good with other dogs & absolutely petrified of cats, they are not desexed or microchipped.

Urgent foster care required for these 2 dogs.

Gilbert – 10 months old male Border Collie x Kelpie – Mornington Pound, Vic

Meet GILBERT (Gilly for short) he a roughly 10 month old border collie cross kelpie & a bit of a scared baby but that is because he is finding the pound a bit to noisy for a baby.

He knows basic obedience quite well, he can stay, come, sit & drop for food & is learning to go on the lead in baby steps with reassurance don’t think he has done much on the lead. He has also learned not to jump by placing your hands across your chest & turning a way. Cats terrify him & he is very submissive around other dogs he rolls over & wets himself so I think he needs some time to learn how to have fun.

He did panic a bit on the lead going back towards the pen but his handler believes he just didn’t want to go back there. Our volunteer met him the other day & thought he was gorgeous.

A slow & steady approach will win the race with this one. He is due out on the 11/2/12 so if we can find a spot for him that will be terrific.

Charlie loves water and has a stumpy tail. We haven’t tested him at this point but ranger said he’s not good with other dogs and is stressing and at the pound. He also is climbing the fences. Poor boy.

Update 5/2: Reggie was rehomed by his owner.

Reggie is full of life.. loves a pat..very fast on his feet when you call him back. Follows kids around the yard but like to be at his master feet. Will tell you about the weather. Not fan of fireworks. Lawn mower not a fan. Good bark on him, will tell you if people or snake is about. You will get to know his different barks but is all show.

Reggie is an urgent private rehoming due to financial hardship and his family are reluctantly surrendering him.

Update 2/2 – Safe with rescue

Due 5/2

This fellow is a friendly, outgoing adolescent who was generally easy to manage. Gives the impression of possibly having been a working dog. Has a chain around his neck, is very dirty (pound were going to give him a bath). He is a young dog with a handsome and unique look about him, white with chocolate markings around tail and leg, lighter brown/tan around hock area. His nose does not have full pigment and would need sunscreen. He is pretty much typical of a young, working breed type – happy, friendly, outgoing and active (though not hyper). A lovely boy who would be easy to train.

Was already out in exercise run, approached for lead to be put on.
Stand and ignore and withdrawal of affection – Jumped up but was fairly gentle when doing so, checked in with handler.
Guiding – Resisted then allowed sit, fairly easy into drop
Dog to dog – Friendly and forward, had a boisterous game with the staffy X girl.
On lead – Generally okay on lead (a little all over the place at times), responded to correction, reasonably active dog.
Training – Can sit on command (though didn’t always do it first time when asked), went easily into a drop.
Motivated by treats.
