Lucy is a very active & extremely friendly Staffy x Kelpie. She is great with kids, cats and other dogs as well as being completely housetrained. She travels well in the car if secured and in her free time loves chasing balls.

Her recall is improving day by day and she has now mastered “sit” and “drop”. Well mannered at feeding time, she just loves toys & cuddles!! She is not a barker but “talks” when excited! She would excel at the high jump events so will need secure yard or acreage. Very food orientated, she will be a breeze for the right family to invest in further training.

Spinner – Blue cattle dog – 7yo – Cairns, QLD

Spinner is a most faithful friend and companion that anyone could wish for. He is a delight to take walking or on any social events as he totally ignores other dogs that may come his way (he does have a sneaky look at them out the corner of his eye!) He LOVES riding in the car and loves to bark his delight when in the back.

His aloof but docile nature endears him to all who have the pleasure of meeting him. He is the best watchdog in Cairns and certainly lets you know if there is anyone walking, riding or hanging around. He has some quirky little habits that do become quite endearing when you get to know him. He doesn’t like being growled at (by humans) and can get quite grumpy for all of 5 seconds! He doesn’t like thunder but a reassuring pat and a place to hide away and he is happy. His table manners are good and he will eat just about anything. BUT, don’t mention the word Schmackos within his hearing unless you are offering as this is his favourite treat. He is very receptive to a bath and and will share it with you after with a big shake! He would be the ideal companion for someone who is looking for a mature boy who will love you forever once he gets to know you.

Please complete this adoption application if you are willing to give Spinner a forever home

Oska – 12 month old Male kelpie x, Mackay Pound QLD

Oska is an affectionate young man who loves his food and will sit very patiently waiting for his bowl. He is not at all aggressive and will allow  his food to be taken off him without an issue. He absolutely adores attention and is the biggest smooch, will lay on your lap for cuddles and follow you everywhere.

He has not been allowed on the furniture but he loves nothing more than to curl up on the rug to watch TV with his humans. He is currently an inside/outside dog, sleeps inside some nights and outside others with no dramas.

He is not really interested in toys or balls, occasionally he picks them up but then loses interest and drops them. He is not a super high energy dog, loves his walks and a run in the park though. He LOVES the water and can swim like a fish, he will also happily just laze around in his splash pool. He walks well on a lead when alone and when I have the other dog, he does get excited if we meet another dog on our walk but this is improving.

He gets along well with other dogs and is fine with his foster cat. He has started  in obediance classes and he is coming along well, very easy to train. His recall still needs some work when out with distractions though.

He travels well in the car and the back of the ute, he needs to be lifted into the ute though. He is a very soft natured dog and can be a little timid if someone raises their voice suddenly.

Oska is a very chilled out dude but does not like to be left alone, he is fine as long as the other dog is home or someone is there but will stress if everyone leaves and takes his doggy friend leaving him completely alone. He is fine if he is taken away from the other dog on a trip to the vet or something though.

When we first got Oska from the pound he had no training at all, was extremely jumpy, although this has improved alot he will still need ongoing training being a young dog.

We have no idea how this lovely boy ended up at the pound but who ever left him there lost out big time. He really is an absolutely lovely dog who will make some lucky person the most loyal friend.

To hear more about Oska or to meet him with a view to adoption please complete our adoption questionnaire: http://www.workingdogrescue.com.au/application-forms/apply-to-adopt-from-awdri/

Max – 12 month old male Kelpie x Stumpy Cattle Dog – Cairns, Qld

This is Max, an energetic young man who is looking for a new home, preferably with another canine companion. Max is great with people, young and old, and superb with other dogs. Since entering foster care he has learnt some manners and has settled down dramatically.
Although he loves running and chasing his ball – he loves one on one time and is a big smoocher!
He loves riding in the car, and on long trips he lets out a little whine when it’s time to go to the bathroom. (very cute!)

Max has been in foster care for about 5 months, which is a mystery as he has developed into such a wonderful dog. We would love him to go to his new forever home soon so he can settle down and begin his new life.
Please complete the adoption application if you think Max is the boy for you!
