Moe – 10 week old male Kelpie x pup – Central Coast, NSW

Moe is Kelpie – border collie mix with maybe a possibility of Rottweiler in him due to the look and size of his head and build and coat.  He is a really fun, outgoing and fun loving kinda guy. He is full of spunk and very handsome little fella.

He he is a rich dark tan and black with flecks of white on his chest and two different coloured eyes one green/grey eye, one rich brown. He will grow to be a thick boned athletic dog. He is incredibly smart and quick, loves tug toys, nearly toilet trained and brings most items back in fetch so would be a fab agility, obedience competitor.

Quite common in the kelpie he is independant and quiet at times when focused on something other than you. He is a guy who needs a fair but firm and active owner. He is calm and confident around dogs and people and a stable boy who doesn’t mind a bit of rough and tumble with adult kelpies. This boy was the dominant one in the litter but soon becomes submissive with other dominant adult dogs.
He loves affection with people being cuddled, and doesn’t mind the water, car rides or being on lead and walks really well. He self settles quickly and sleeps right through the night without and accident once settled in.
Perfect companion for an active lifestyle, and would easily mold, to suitable with young children.

Zorro – blue male ACD – 2 years old – Sydney, NSW

Update 19/04:  Zorro is now safe with AWDRI pending vetting and transport to foster care.

On PTS List 19/04/2012

Pound notes: When I was undoing the latch to undo his pen he didn’t get up and they usually do. When I entered his pen he gave me a really good sniff and just stood at the gate. I don’t know what the story is with this boy but he struck me as sad. I coaxed him to me for pats a few times but he didn’t stay long before he decided to go back and stand at the gate. He didn’t get excited or wag his tail he hardly lifted his head for me. I think he is waiting for his master to come back and does not know why he is here in this scary place all alone.

Ringo – male tan Kelpie x – 12 months – Sydney, NSW

Ringo is an incredibly good looking dog.

He doesn’t bark very much, but he still does bark at other dogs though. He’s very loyal, and loves to cuddle. Great recall, and will do anything to play fetch with you, he loves tennis balls and will throw them to himself.

His foster carers give him a minimum of one hour exercise each day; a walk won’t suffice so he gets to go to the dog park where a tennis ball thrower is utilised and he can chase a ball for over an hour! This gets him tired for the night and he will settle down to sleep for the night.

Ringo gets along great with other dogs, but if he is rehomed with another dog, he picks up pack behavior very quickly, so if your dog gets a bit rough at the dog park, Ringo will join in. Luckily he’s easy distracted with a tennis ball, and will listen to his name.

He hasn’t been house trained, but he is in training for it. So far so good, only a few slip ups!
He’s also a big guts, and is very food motives, he practically inhales his food! He’s incredibly smart and learns things immediately, so food will come in handy for training. He will need daily enrichment for when no one is home, to keep his brain motivated, like bones or kongs or doggy ice blocks.

Ringo would suit a family as he loves children and people and to cuddle on the lounge, but like with any dog, supervision around children is vital.
He is also fine with cats, and pays no attention to them.

Ringo is a very cuddly dog and wants nothing more than to sit with you and have lots of cuddles and scratches on the tummy. An obedience class would benefit Ringo greatly, he shows a lot of appeasement behavior and really just wants to impress you, and since he is so smart, he does need a leader who can keep up his obedience and  to look upto and follow the rules from.

To sum up:
He’s a fantastic dog, great looks, great personality, lots of fun, and easy to handle, obedient.  High energy dog, Great in a family environment, with an active couple, or an older couple who can exercise him daily (he will not suit a new family or a family who is expecting). Great with children,  cats and dogs.

You will love him! :)
