Bella – 2 year old female Border Collie – Cairns, Qld

Bella is a happy go lucky dog. She was slightly timid when she came into our care but has gotten really comfortable. Bella gets along with other dogs big or small. Cattle and horses dont worry her at all and she doesnt chase them or poultry. Bella has awsome manners and is extremely obedient. She loves people and is content to sit at your feet. Miss Marlie – 11 week old female Kelpie x – Hervey Bay, Qld

Miss Marlie hasn’t been in my care for very long but with each & every day that passes she comes further out of her shell & is really fitting in well with her foster family. Being a pup she does have her mischievous side, but by all means this is in no way a big issue like some pups I’ve had in the past.. Just a bit of chewing but what puppy doesn’t chew. She plays well with older dogs, has had lots of exposure to my toddling & preschool aged children. She is actually quite well behaved with them too – just a few licks with no jumping – and that tail, boy it gets a workout when she greets them. She is very mellow with my cat & i have actually caught them a few times curled up together on the couch or playing together! She has had inside time with me & is quite calm & relaxed, when I am watching tv she will sleep & when I’m up and about she is like a shadow at my heels. We have had one accident inside & that was only because I didn’t see her get up because I was distracted so it was no fault of her own. She has gone most times I take her out onto the grass so she is toilet training well. All in all my opinion is that she is showing a lot of potential to be a clever little dog. She’s already learning basic commands & really is very attentive. She would suit almost anyone who is able to put the time & effort into an intelligent dog, whether it be someone single, a couple, a family. She really is a little ray of sunshine!

To find out more about Marlie or to meet her with a view to adoption please fill out our adoption form. Please note that completing the application form does not place you under any obligation to adopt.

Mystique – 11 week old female Kelpie x pup – Hervey Bay, Qld

Litte Mystique has been the most outgoing of the litter of ‘M’ pups from Hervey Bay. During her time with me I’ve noticed she seems to be the ‘instigator’ when it comes to roughing up her brother & sisters and finding things to chew. She, like her brother and sisters have an extremely loving and kind nataure. During her stay she has been around 6 other dogs and horses which has never caused any issue and I believe she would be a very versatile dog, whether it be just a pet, working dog or anywhere in between. She is good with children but, like any pup, would need to be supervised around young children as she is very playful and may get a bit excitable.
With her beautiful nature I believe she would be an assest to any family, or even single person looking for a new best mate.

To find out more about Mystique or to meet her with a view to adoption please fill out our adoption form. Please note that completing the application form does not place you under any obligation to adopt.

Mia – 11 week old Kelpie x pup – Hervey Bay, Qld

Little Mia would be the ‘quietest’ of the ‘M’ litter of pups from Hervey Bay. She is very shy and a bit timid at first but soon warms up with a pat. She, like her brother and sisters has a loving nature and is very kind. She is good with other pups/dogs, has been amongst 6 other dogs and horses during her stay with me and it hasn’t fazed her at all. She isn’t much of a chewer but prefers to sit and watch her sisters do all the work.
We believe she would be more suited to a family who is looking for a loving pet rather than a ‘working dog’. She is good with kids, but like any puppy would need to be supervised with young children and she likes to lick them and will occasionally jump.

To find out more about Mia or to meet her with a view to adoption please fill out our adoption form. Please note that completing the application form does not place you under any obligation to adopt.

Lucy – 8 month old brindle Kelpie x Staffy – Julatten, Qld (FNQ)

Lucy is a very active & extremely friendly Staffy x Kelpie. She is great with kids, cats and other dogs as well as being completely housetrained. She travels well in the car if secured and in her free time loves chasing balls.

Her recall is improving day by day and she has now mastered “sit” and “drop”. Well mannered at feeding time, she just loves toys & cuddles!! She is not a barker but “talks” when excited! She would excel at the high jump events so will need secure yard or acreage. Very food orientated, she will be a breeze for the right family to invest in further training.

Kane – 13 week old male kelpie x pup – Brisbane, Qld

Kane is a well behaved boy, he is the most human orientated out of all the pups. He sits very well and will sit for almost anything including a pat! He is boisterous and is going to be a top dog. He is very focused and even when the puppies are playing he will be the first to come when called.  He will make a very good pet with some training but may have a little food aggression which requires some work to resolve. He is not very energetic so could be suited to a suburban yard.

‘Atlas’ – Approx 9 month old male ACD, Brisbane QLD

By WideBayDogs Posted in Available for Adoption, AWDRI Dogs, Queensland (QLD) /

Atlas was a very frightened dog when he first arrived of most things except other dogs. His foster carer hand fed him so he would start to trust and become more accustomed to human contact. Within a few days he was a very trusting dog and loves to be patted; he absorbs it like a sponge. He does not bark a lot and is quiet overnight. He sleeps quietly in a crate on the back verandah overnight. He has never had an accident. He just wants your attention all the time and sits on the back table looking into the house watching what you do. He is very excitable with other dogs and can be a little nippy when overstimulated but this is something that is trainable. He looks like he just wants to heel which is a natural instinct in his breed. He is better with his larger foster dog sibling however we think he could be a little overbearing for a smaller dog.  He is learning and when you go into his space he will sit and wait for a pat, he will also follow you around the yard and sit waiting for a pat. On his walks he was very frightened of cars and most things this is improving and is starting to ignore cars. He is very smart and would make a loyal friend. He has started tugging for those interested in an agility dog, he is not interested in the ball.

To find out more about Atlas or meet him with a view to adoption please complete our adoption questionnaire: http://www.workingdogrescue.com.au/application-forms/apply-to-adopt-from-awdri/
