Ozi – 10yo male kelpie, Cairns QLD *Courtesy listing*

Ozi is a 10 year old purebred, chocolate kelpie. He desperately needs his own loving family as his world has been turned upside down when his family who had him since he was a pup could not take care of him any longer. His manners are impeccable, and he is gentle and affectionate. He would make the perfect family dog. Someone else has done all the hard world with this guy, he is a true gem. He is 10 going on 5 so he still needs daily walks and cuddles in the evening. He needs to be allowed inside with the family where he will curl up at your feet and sleep away the rest of his adult life. Shows no interested in cats when on the lead, but has not been tested off lead. Good with other dogs, children and people.

If you are interested in adopting Ozi please contact 0423013207

623895 – Jackson – 10yo male kelpie, RSPCA Wacol

By VicPounds Posted in Courtesy listings, Queensland (QLD), Urgent /

Jackson is not coping in the pound environment and needs a new home ASAP

Have you heard of the expression “Don’t judge a book by its cover?” or “You’re only as old as you feel?” According to my humans here, they reckon these both apply to me; I may be 10 years of age, but I sure as heck don’t feel like it! The name is Jackson! I am a super friendly boy who is looking for his forever home with a family who has older children and secure fences that will keep me safe and happy.

631285 – Millie 4yo female border collie, RSPCA Wacol Qld

By VicPounds Posted in Queensland (QLD), Urgent /

Hi!! My name is Millie and I’m up to date with my vaccinations, desexed and microchipped! I know my manners- Sit, Drop, Come and Sit/Stay (but only for treats). I love playing with squeaky toys and playing tug rope. I’m a little shy around new situations so I will need my new owner to go slow with me. I would be best suited to a mature home with no other dogs.

URGENT as not coping in pound environment

Hey there!! I’m Dusty and I’m up to date with my vaccinations, desexed and even microchipped! I’m still very much a pup…and a cattledog pup X. So that means I have HEAPS of energy. I’m going to need a good run AT LEAST once a day (preferably in the morning so I’m worn out while you’re not home!) and I’m also going to need some enrichment- Oh, one more thing, little kids don’t always like my enthusiasm for life, so I’m better for a home with older playmates…Are you full of energy like me?!

BC x Kelpie, “Ben” – 12 wks old – with other rescue- Courtesy Listing- Vic *adopted*

Ben is a hefty young lad who will grow into a medium size dog. He is Border collie cross kelpie, but there could be a tad staffie there too. He is 12 weeks old, and has had all his vetting done, so is ready for adoption.
He is a loving and cuddly dog with the energy of a pup, just like his brother Bill. The both have two speeds – full bore and stop.
Ben would most likely suit a family where someone is home most of the time to make sure he is kept occupied. He could also be a great Tradie’s dog, being able to meet and greet lots of people and be near his boss.
He plays well with others and has a healthy respect for his elders. *adopted 19/04/12*

Porkey – 10 1/5 year old ACD x JRT – Rehoming from Renbury Farm, NSW

RESCUE OR ADOPTION REQUIRED
Spritely boy with lots of love to give, his carer while in boarding cannot speak more highly of him. Porkey is a private rehoming for one of our boarding clients. He is currently in our boarding kennels and has been for quite some months now. Sadly Porkey’s owner is without accommodation where he can have Porkey with him and will more than likely be like this for quite sometime more. Porkey’s dad wants him to have the best life not a kennel life and would love for someone to give him this.

***********************************************

VOLUNTEER NOTES
I met young Porkey and his Dad today, who has allowed me to tell his story. He was working for a man who was building a house, and noticed that his dog was being neglected. Left on a 1m chain all day, no interaction or exercise at all. This kind man could not stand to see this dog in this situation and convinced the owner to give Porkey to him. Dad is not in a position to have him where he lives and has been boarding him at RF at his expense for a long while now. But he hasn’t forgotten about him – he visits him all the time, brings him food, takes him for walks, gives him baths etc… basically treats him as his own dog. It’s unfortunate he cannot have him with him, because I will tell you one thing… he really loves this dog and just wants what is best for him.

He knows he cannot leave him in boarding kennels indefinitely. Porkey deserves to live his twilight years snuggled up in his own warm bed, with his own loving family. Ideally he is looking for someone to adopt Porkey direct from RF, but is happy to talk to any rescue who can assure him that Porkey will be well loved and looked after until he finds his furever home. He is also willing to have Porkey desexed at his cost, regardless of rescue or adoption. His primary concern is that Porkey goes into the right family, not money. I admit I did convince him to not give Porkey away for free (we all know the risks associated with that), that perhaps a donation to charity from the new owner, or a donation to the rescue group who saves him, would be more appropriate.

Regarding Porkey himself, he is a delightful and friendly young man. And I mean young – because until I read his age on the RF website I would never have put him at 10.5 years old! He is quite a chubby little man (hence his name, more than likely) but not grossly overweight. He follows Dad patiently and quietly, adoring the attention being paid to him. Porkey also hasn’t met a stranger – he is friendly with all.

Observing the dynamics today you can tell Dad loves Porkey (the feeling is mutual) and only wants the best for his “personal rescue”. He was very insistent that he just doesn’t want Porkey going to anyone – he wants Porkey to be loved for who he is, and not neglected ever again.

I wish there were more people in the world like him. Restore my faith – can someone (new family or rescue) step up for Porkey? Please. (AK 5/2)

465617 – 3.5yo male kelpie x ACD, Bendigo RSPCA Vic

Dog is a terrific boy, he is sociable, outgoing and quite obedient.  He knows to sit quietly and has lovely manners when meeting people, regardless of their ages. He loves teens and the elderly and everyone in between.  He is not too bad on lead, is good with cats and birds.  He is energetic but has plenty of focus.  He is only here due to his owners living hardship.
