Volunteer notes: Found in front pens. Friendly when we entered his outside yard then jumped up.Happy to be handled and leaned in.No obvious health problems. At first resisted being guided into a sit but then allowed. Easy to guide him into a drop.Friendly and appropriate with female boxer x. Assertive and a little stimulated when introduced to the male staffy. Staffy growled as cattledog got closer then cattledog growled back. He can sit and although not very good on lead was responsive and watched handler. He’d best suited to a home with a female dog as he was ‘strutting his stuff’ when he met the male staffy. Both entire males so he may be better once desexed. He’s a very handsome and likeable dog with a good and friendly nature. He wagged his tail a lot and was happy in our company. He is responsive and keen to please. He’ll need an owner willing to train and exercise – he’d be a pleasure to train!
Due 18/5
Volunteer notes: Surrendered (not sure why). Was a guard dog and chained up a lot.Calm when we entered his outside yard.Allowed being handled but was a little unsure and trembled.Rex has a toe missing on his back right foot. He seemed to favour it when sitting. His teeth are quite worn down.Resisted but then allowed being guided into a sit and drop.Friendly greeting with a female jack russell, sniffing noses.Although met male staffy in appropriate manner he quickly moved away. Rex can sit, drop and walks well on lead. Responsive and motivated by treats.Ranger said Rex was very wary of the male rangers when he first arrived but has settled and is much calmer around them. Ranger also said he’s seen a big change in him. Rex seems a bit bemused at being in the pound and is struggling. We had him out for a while and he really did start to relax the longer he was with us. He’s probably spent a lot of time alone, poor boy. Rex loves water and has been picking his water bowl up and throwing it over his head. You can see he has wet patches on his body in one of the photos. He’d make a devoted companion in a quiet home and deserves a comfortable retirement. A lovely older boy.
